The lipoedema – therapy options

The applied lipoedema therapy is individually adapted to each patient – let us find your optimal treatment together.

An overview of the lipedema therapy options for you

In the initial phase of lipedema formation, wearing medical compression stockings regularly can slow down but not stop the pathological fat distribution disorder. In the long term, surgical removal of the diseased fat cells is the most effective and sustainable lipoedema therapy. A change in diet or diet and regular exercise cannot counteract the proliferation of these fat cells.

Conservative lipoedema therapy

Many patients wear compression garments for years before an operation to counteract the edema. Compression underwear as a lipoedema therapy can help to reduce lipoedema and the side effects associated with it. However, this does not combat the cause of the fat distribution disorder.

Operative lipoedema therapy

In the case of persistent complaints with functional limitations due to the pain symptoms, we recommend a visit to the plastic surgery department. If the conservative measures have not led to a significant improvement in the symptoms, surgery as a lipoedema therapy can be the right alternative for you.
